Success and Interaction

As an architect with over 40 years experience, I have encountered an important idea common to almost all organizations.  The environment controls our level of success by setting up the proper level of face to face interaction.  The government and corporations know this and direct their architects to design to the level of interaction that optimizes their particular program.

The Townlet public spaces maximize the potential for flexible face to face interaction with a selection of comfortable accommodations for the full range of personalities from introvert to extrovert.

Dancing about Architecture

Ironically, Steve Martin was almost right when he said “Talking about music is like dancing about architecture”. The truth is that we dance about architecture every day.  We learn and repeat our individual dances as we move from room to room, building to building and building to landscape.  The richness of the experience is the result of the quality of the setting.  A new setting creates anxiety as we learn a new dance that will usually be repeated if we return.  The dance stops when we get into a car.

The Townlet is designed to provide a rich stage for daily life.

First Post

The banner image is Oia, Greece, a small town of 1,200 that is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful places on earth. A precedent of The Townlet, its Corso is paved in white marble and its Vias step down the steep hillsides with spectacular views. Its architecture is based on a very simple vocabulary adapted to a wide variety of conditions.

This blog will summarize feedback on the thetownlet.com to improve the model, measure opinion and identify possible development opportunities.
